Tax Planning

We at Copeland, Trotter & Norman, P.C. believe that one of the most beneficial aspects of our practice is in providing our clients with proactive tax planning. We realize that perhaps the only constant in the field of taxation is change, and we pride ourselves in keeping abreast of the almost daily revisions being made in federal and state tax law. Our team of tax professionals are bound by a strict code of professional ethics and we have obtained our qualifications as CPAs through our education and work experience to provide the wide array of tax services required by our individual and business clients.

Of course, simply being knowledgeable in the tax area is fruitless unless what is known can be translated into a tax planning strategy. Our knowledge and training in tax matters and our awareness of new developments and emerging issues enable us to develop effective tax-planning techniques that help our clients to both achieve their individual and/or business objectives and experience a favorable tax result.

What kinds of services do we provide? Some people may think that the primary tax function of a CPA firm is to produce tax returns at the end of the year. While it is true that part of our role with a client is to prepare their tax returns, we like to view a tax return as a type of report card which shows the positive results of proper planning which took place throughout the year. Nothing is worse than coming up with a good idea after it’s too late for implementation. Unfortunately, some CPA firms don’t take the time to really get to know their clients, and a good planning idea can quickly turn into an afterthought.

Such is not the case at Copeland, Trotter & Norman, P.C.. As our clients will be quick to point out, we take a highly proactive approach to tax planning, and not just at year-end. We encourage our clients to view tax planning as an integral part of their personal and business endeavors, and we have fostered the kind of client rapport which enables us to know and be aware of what is of ongoing importance to our clients. That’s the kind of relationship that yields the best results for our clients.
